Is the gas calculator free?

The on-screen calculator is free without an account. A free email account lets you save and reopen your sample results. Creating numbered reports and downloading results or PDFs requires an active Essential subscription. Editable JSON recovery backups remain available to preserve your data.

What does the calculator include?

It calculates installation and purge volume from the available pipework and meter inputs, and provides a limited pressure-drop comparison using the selected gas, gauge and test mode. It includes natural gas, LPG and LPG/air selections. Its assumptions and limits are shown inside the tool.

What changed with IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4?

IGEM states that Edition 4 became effective on 1 October 2026, following the withdrawal of Edition 3. This calculator references Edition 4 and makes its input assumptions visible for review. It does not replace the full standard or its procedures. Read the official IGEM publication.

Is this the official IGEM/UP/1B app?

No. This is an independent Essential Heating Services Limited tool that references IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by IGEM or Gas Safe Register. Use the full current standard and its applicable procedures.

Can I use this for live gas-safety work?

This version is for sample testing and technical review only. It must not be used to make live gas-safety decisions. A competent reviewer must validate the tool against the licensed current standard before professional release.

Can I keep more than one test in a record?

Yes. You can add the readings for a job to a combined record, save it with a free account and reopen it later. An active Essential subscription is required to create numbered sample reports and download reports or PDFs. Editable JSON recovery backups preserve your original data.

Which plan includes PDF and report downloads?

Calculator PDF and report downloads are included in the all-inclusive £24.99/month Essential package; there is no separate calculator subscription. Up to 2 engineers are included; each additional engineer costs £5.00/month. Payments are currently disabled, so you cannot purchase or activate a subscription here yet. View Essential plans.

How does this connect to Essential certificates?

Your Essential workspace brings sample calculator records and certificates together. The certificate package setup collects company and engineer details for your documents. Explore the full Essential package.

CLEAR ABOUT THE LIMITS

A calculation supports the engineer.
It does not replace the procedure.

Technical review and independent sign-off are outstanding. All generated records retain their sample markings. The tool cannot verify an installation, the equipment used or how a test was carried out.
